HOD OUTDOOR EDUCATION

We are seeking a passionate and experienced HOD of Outdoor Education to develop and lead our Outdoor Education programme to join our team at the start of Term 3, 2025 for a two year contract.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in Outdoor Education and the ability to teach NCEA Outdoor Education standards
  • A strong understanding of Risk Management and EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) procedures
  • A passion for student wellbeing, leadership development, and environmental sustainability
  • A commitment to Mātauranga Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and supporting Māori and Pacific ākonga.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead curriculum/program development.
  • Plan and implement OED related EOTC trips, ensuring student safety and engagement

Motueka High School is a state co-educational school of approximately 730 students ranging from Years 9–13. Situated at the gateway of three stunning national parks (including the Abel Tasman National Park), Motueka is at the centre of one of New Zealand’s most scenic regions.
