Scholarships

Motueka High School awards a range of scholarships each year, totalling more than $80,000, including five Kina Beach Scholarships generously donated by the estate of Muriel Sterling.

  • Kina Beach Scholarships

5 x $8,000 (subject to change) Criteria: Work to potential, attend Motueka High School for 3 years, studying towards tertiary qualification

  • McKee Trust Scholarship

$2,000 a year for 3 years  Criteria: All round financial need

  • Rowling Memorial Scholarship

$3,000 Criteria: All round financial need

  • Riwaka Educational Scholarship

$2,000 Criteria: Living in Riwaka, for tertiary study

  • Grete Smith Memorial Scholarship

$2,000 Criteria: Creative writing, open to all students, original work

  • Emerging Talent Scholarships

Open to all Year 8’s who will be attending MHS in 2019. To recognise the strengths and talents in a number of different areas ie: sport, arts, academics and extra-curricular activities.  The successful applicant will have their uniform and stationery requirements paid in full with the payment of some fees for the first two years of High School.  Entries close 31st October 2018.

Other Scholarships include:

“Entries are now open for the McGlashen Pharmacy Young Achiever Scholarship.  The annual scholarship is for $1,000.00 awarded to a student in Nelson or Tasman under 17 who excels in their chosen field of sport, art, music, academia etc.  Entries can be picked up at McGlashen Pharamcy in Richmond and are due by 5pm 28th September 2018.”

Scholarships are also available by applying to https://studysoup.com/scholarships/student-side-hustler.  StudySoup just launched a Student Side Hustlers Scholarship program. This is a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to one student entrepreneur who has demonstrated initiative, perseverance, and a little creativity to set up a side business as a way of bringing in extra income while still in school. It doesn’t matter if they’ve made $100 or $10,000…if they’re an up and coming entrepreneur, we want to hear from them!
Who is eligible:Any individual at least sixteen (16) years old who meets one of the following criteria:

  • Currently attending high school
  • Currently attending an accredited university or college (undergraduate and graduate students are both eligible)
